Student Teaching Interns

Ontario College of Teachers (OCT- Link)
We are pleased to have helped many Ontario students reach their goal of becoming an elementary or secondary teacher.  Many students even complete some early coursework at an Ontario school such as Sault College or Algoma.  The single most important factor is to receive early advising to ensure that courses completed at other institutions will meet the program requirements of our Michigan approved program.  Please call our friendly helpful staff for additional information (906) 635-2811

"My journey through the Lake Superior State University Teacher Education Program prepared me greatly for my first year of teaching.  Actually,  I feel as though it is my second year  of teaching because of the year-long internship.   That was the most enriching part of the  program.  It was truly a hands-on/project-based experience - the best way that students learn!  LSSU's  Teacher Ed program is the BEST!!!  Talking with teachers, principals, and educational leaders, they can't believe the exposure that LSSU grads have to teaching!"
Shawna Possebon, 2005  LSSU  School of Education graduate

David (B.S. History teaching) and Desiree (B.S. Elementary teaching) Barrett are among the the 55 students who completed their student teaching during the spring 2008.  Can you sense their joy?

Information on Admission:
Formal admission to the Teacher Certification Program is required prior to taking EDUC301 or higher.  Application materials available here.

"You can teach  a student a lesson for a day, but if you can teach him to learn by creating  curiosity, he will continue  the learning process as long as he lives," by Clay P. Bedford, is a quote that I first read on a professor's door at LSSU.  LSSU teaches you how to teach by guiding the children in your class to a positive future.  LSSU gives you the foundation that makes a person into a teacher who will make a difference in the lives of  children."
Krista Vit,  2004 LSSU School of Education graduate
