  • Public Act 340 in Michigan requires "At the beginning of every semester or term, the college of education of each Michigan public university shall provide to all of its students the most current listing of critical shortage disciplines compiled by the superintendent of public instruction pursuant to section 61(5) of the public school employees retirement act of 1979, 1979 PA 300, MCL38.1361."

  • TUTORS NEEDED: The LSSU Learning Center invites TE students to apply for employment as tutors for the coming academic year, especially in mathematics at the MA081-086 level.  Apply online.  GPA of 3.0 cumulative, B or higher in subject (that course or higher) and a recommendation is required.  Deadline extended and preference given to TE students.  Excellent opportunity, payment in U.S. funds, Canadian students may apply, SS# required.   • Instructor resources: Field Experiences in TE301 and higher require either a journal or a reflective summary, and guidelines define the types of experiences that may be used to meet the program requirements.  We expect to move to web-based submissions of these narratives through a dedicated WebCT group in the near future.  The School has adopted the Understanding by Design (UBD) philosophy.  We are providing templates for both Lesson (F-085) and the UBD Unit.   Instructors or students may benefit from reviewing an informational slideshow for 400-level and higher courses.  Copies may be distributed to students in TE420 and TE431.

    Canadian students in secondary education programs.  New information received from the OCT provides guidance on the requirements for methods courses in both your major and minor.  We are reviewing this information and will issue an guidance document in the very near future.
