Formal Admission Process

Students who wish to earn Michigan teacher certification must be formally admitted to the LSSU Teacher Education Program. Application packets with complete instructions for the admissions process can be obtained at the Teacher Education Office at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.

Applications are available at our FORMS page or download a the file here pdf

NOTE: Effective with the Spring 2004, students are required to keep a technology portfolio from CS101 comprised of the subject list for the semester and copies of all laboratory activities completed in the course.  Evidence contained in this technology portfolio will be required for all students applying for admission to the School of Education beginning with the Fall 2004.

In the event that more students qualify for admission than university resources can accommodate, a selection system may be established. The criteria used in selecting students will include, by way of example but not by way of limitation, GPA’s, faculty recommendations, representation from under-represented populations, teaching subject area demand, and availability of adequate numbers of K-12 cooperating teachers.
