Special thanks to Margie who shared these directions
with us for the website. Some of the original text was modified to remove
specific dates. Consult the main page for the next application deadline.
You may begin coursework at LSSU without being admitted to the school of
education. Unlike many Ontario Universities we have a flexible admission
policy that can allow individuals to begin work immediately on their content
courses.

Subject: Application to LSSU's Teacher Education Program
Hi everyone,
This e-mail is being sent to all Sault College Liberal
Studies dual enrollees
who have indicated they are interested in applying to
the LSSU Teacher
Education program and then transferring to the
university in the next semester.
If this is still your intent, you must apply to the LSSU
TE
Program by noon of the 2nd Friday in either October or
February.
Your first question will probably be: "How do I go
about doing this?"
Attached please find a three-page explanation of:
* how you may obtain an application package from the
LSSU Education
Department's website http://education.lssu.edu
* what's in the application package.
If you have difficulty downloading the attachment, you
can pick up a paper
copy from either my office (B1131) or the Liberal
Studies office. Further
clarification of the TE Program Admission requirements
can be found on page
251 of the LSSU 2002-2004 Catalog.
Please, if you know that any of your classmates are
planning to transfer to
LSSU but have not yet completed a Dual Enrolment form,
please tell them to
do so immediately, take it to Renee Steuer in the
Liberal Studies office so
she can copy it for the student's file and then submit
it to the Sault
College Registrar. There is a lot of paperwork that we
have to do along
with your DE forms and that takes time. As we would
like your records to be
complete at LSSU by the application deadline, the sooner
the DE forms are submitted, the
better.
Also, if you have decided you are NOT interested in
applying to the TE
program at this point, please let me know. Besides the
extra paperwork
Sault College will be doing, LSSU Admissions will be
sending you materials
you do not need if you do not tell us of your changed
plans.
For your information, the LSSU TE Department usually
hosts an Information
Meeting once each semester. Announcements of the
meeting time are on the website,
and notes/slides from the presentation will be posted on
the website after the meeting.
Some of the main agenda items address the TE
Program application process.
If you can fit the meeting into your schedule, I
would encourage you to attend.
I would recommend that you park in the
Visitors' Parking lot (next to
Building #1 on the campus map). It is
accessible by turning left (north) at the main entrance
of the university
off Easterday Avenue. Just ahead of the first stop sign
you will see a
Visitors' Parking lot. After you have parked your
vehicle, go into the
building just east of the lot under the blue light and
register it with
Security.
Some of you have asked me about when and how you will be
registering for LSSU
courses. The LSSU scheduling booklets for these
semesters usually come on
line in mid-to-late March for the Spring. Registration
for the classes is done in April.
In the past, we have arranged for LSSU academic and
admissions advisors to
come to Sault College one evening to assist you
register. I shall be
sending out e-mails with respect to this sometime in
late March. Please do
your best to attend this evening registration session.
By doing so, you
will ensure you have a better opportunity of getting
into the classes you
need. Otherwise, they may fill up before you have the
chance to register -
and that can affect your graduation timeline.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me or drop into
my office. I plan
to work at Sault College on Monday and Wednesday next
week.
